Our calves receive daily human interaction and halter training from birth. This hands-on approach ensures they are calm, confident, and ready to become cherished members of your family.
Each calf is accustomed to gentle brushing and leading, making their transition to your farm smooth and stress-free. We believe in building trust from the very beginning.
We carefully manage our pastures and implement rotational grazing when feasible. We test the soil and apply proper amendments to promote healthy and diverse forage.
Our cows have fresh water available at all times courtesy of Ritchie brand waterers. All pastures have ample shade and shelters to ensure the cows can get out of the elements. A cool highland is a happy highland.
Our farm is serviced by the veterinarians and staff from Virginia Tech's vet school. They conduct routine testing and preventative care to guarantee the well-being of every calf. Herd wellness checks and vaccine administration are done annually for our breeding cows/bulls.
All of our calves are ear notch tested to ensure they are not persistently infected (PI) carriers of Bovine Viral Diarrhea (BVD). There is no cure for a PI BVD carrier...the calf must be euthanized as they will continually get all other cows in the herd sick.
We are committed to preserving the true miniature stature and gentle temperament that defines the Miniature Highland breed. Every calf embodies our dedication to quality and character.
